Rolling forward engagements
Rolling forward an existing engagement or engagement group is the most time-efficient way of creating new work that needs to be repeated. The roll forward operation uses the previous engagement or engagement group details as a starting template, and all necessary details can be edited to suit the exact details of the new work.
Engagements and engagement groups can only be rolled forwards once and entities that have already been rolled forward, cannot be rolled forward again. The new engagement or engagement group that is the result of a roll forward, can itself be rolled forward to create its own successor.
All roll forward operations, individual or bulk, are based on the current saved versions of engagements and engagement groups being rolled forward, not on any original or earlier version.
Individual engagement roll forward
Individual engagements or engagement groups can be rolled forward from their respective Engagement page, and this follows the same procedure as described in Creating a new engagement.

Bulk Roll Forward
If a large amount of work needs to be rolled forward, this can be achieved in the most time-efficient way using the Bulk Roll Forward feature. This allows you to select a range of unrelated engagement groups and engagements for roll forward in the one screen, with a single operation.
Users that have engagement/engagement group creation functionality can access the Bulk Roll Forward page but they will only have access to create new work in line with their other permissions (i.e. limited to their editable units or being key personnel).
-
Expand the Main Menu, and select Create (+) | Bulk Roll Forward:

When Add to Roll Forward View is selected, the Roll Forward Staging page is displayed, containing all entities to be included in the roll forward operation. For maximum awareness, any engagement group structures are initially shown expanded. Each entity is shown with the default workflow applied but this can be edited if necessary by selecting from the workflows available in the drop-down list.
At this stage you can Edit details of any entity, by clicking the Edit (pencil) icon or remove the entity from the roll forward, by clicking the Remove (x) icon.

Entities can be removed from the bulk roll forward staging pageIf you want to copy across resources and plans as part of your bulk roll forward operation, you must ensure the Copy Resourcing check-box (described below in step 6) remains selected for each respective entity to be rolled forward. If this is not selected at this point, it cannot be included later as part of the roll forward process.
-
To benefit from the full power of Bulk Roll Forward, please note that you must ensure that the Copy Resourcing check-box remains selected if you want to copy across the entity’s resources and plans. The check-box default setting is checked by default and all entities in the Staging screen will be rolled forward based on this setting unless manually deselected:
-
Before the final step (clicking Roll Forward), you can click + Add to add more entities to the staging page. Any entities added will be included in the roll forward operation.
-
Click Roll Forward and you are prompted to confirm:

Bulk Roll Forward does not support linking engagements/engagement groups to remote systems on creation. All new work will be unlinked to your integrated system and each entity will need to be manually linked on the respective Engagement/Engagement Group page.
